The only thing that is stopping me from giving this book 4 stars is that the prologues lack context without the full text attached. This is a collection of articles, not a novel. This book is basically a collection of 14 intimad speeches and introductions and forwards written by Esquivel for recipes or others’ books. Sad, given that the author’s Like Water for Chocolate is a book I love and a book she makes frequent references to in this book.
