No background standard in high scholl mathematics is assumed. The textbook for my proof-writing class was essentially useless as it was an analysis book with a single chapter on proof-writing it was Analysis with an Introduction to Proof by Lay. There hod many books out there contending to be “the introduction to mathematics” for sophisticated readers.

Used it for a Logic class and was very helpful. In most of the sections, author also explains about how he arrived at a solution which helped in understanding how to approach a problem.
