Oct 05, Will Byrnes rated it liked it. There’s a nun What is with the modern obsession with Dante? El final me ha gustado, mucho. She specializes in ancient manuscripts and research, and therefore she’s stunned when her superiors need her expertise in a new assignment – identifying unusual tattoos on the corpse of a dead Ethiopian.
Matilde Asensi born in Alicante, Spain is a Spanish journalist and writer, who specializes mainly in historical thrillers. She has more than 20 million readers worldwide and has become the reference of quality bests-sellers in Spanish language. I was a bit turned off when the main character, a nun, falls in love. The Vatican high command clearly riven by some factionalism is scared by the rapid progress the nun makes and takes her off the case, only to reassign her when they find that precious relics and crosses related to the prior investigation are disappearing from various churches around the world.
But even as a picaresque, I thought it was bad. The author allows the reader to experience a literary game played out with Dante’s Purgatorio as the rule book and travel guide.
Holy relics are disappearing from sacred spots around the world—and the Vatican will do whatever it takes to stop the thieves f A masterful blend of Christian scholarship and thrilling adventure, The Last Cato is a novel about the race to find the secret location of the Vera Cruz, the True Cross on which Christ was crucified, and the ancient brotherhood sworn to protect it. If perchance you are looking for an excellent plus religious thriller I would highly reccomend The Book of Q by Jonathan Rabb!!
Once it got going, I was completely snared. However, the book depended too much on slapstick, silly humor and cheezy romance to gel things together. Salina to a private meeting.
We know they will succeed. Lists with This Book.

A masterful asenxi of Christian scholarship and thrilling adventure, The Last Cato is a novel about the race to find the secret location of the Vera Cruz, the True Cross on which Christ was crucified, and the ancient brotherhood sworn to protect it.
An academic nun, a archaeologist and a member of the Swiss Guard are put on an important mission to find out why true cross relics are being stolen from both Orthodox and Catholic churches throughout Chrisendom. Una obra totalmente recomendable si te gustan los libros de aventuras. I can’t explain my lack of enthusiasm towards this book.
El Ultimo Caton : Matilde Asensi :
Now, the Staurofilakes are stealing the fragments of the Cross back, using any means necessary to fulfill the long-ago oath they made to protect it.
We learn a fair bit about early church history, and also some of the workings of the Vatican.
Al final hasta me ha gustado!! El final es simplemente excepcional. Want to Read Currently Reading Read.
El Ultimo Caton
She specializes in ancient manuscripts and research, and therefore she’s stunned when h I have absolutely no interest in The Da Vinci Code or any books ultumo that sort, but I picked this up for two reasons: Other books in the series. Un poco to Aunque al principio no terminaba de cogerle el punto al final me ha gustado. Her books, of an indubitable quality and proven historical documentation, have been translated to 15 languages. The story revolves around the search for the True Cross that Jesus Christ was crucified on.
Ok ok ok I enjoyed this book much more than my rating would indicate. Along with a stoic Swiss Army captain and brilliant Coptic Egyptian, the three of them work through linguistic riddles and discover the key to everything is hidden in plain sight – Dante’s The Divine Comedy.
The truth of the matter really is that I may well be categorized as one of those people who has grown tired of biblical mystery themed literature. Still, it was an entertaining, enjoyable read, and would probably make good summer fare. But I will still recommend this piece to everyone who has an appetite for biblical mysteries, or plain mystery for that matter. Aunque al principio no terminaba de cogerle el punto al final me ha gustado.
The Last Cato (Catón, #1) by Matilde Asensi
Thanks for telling us about the problem. This is tied into Dante’s purgatory and the three must solve several mysteries tied to seven cities and the seven deadly sins.
It’s a curious thing that amtilde author based this story on The Divine Comedy by Dante more specifically on the Purgatory12 years before Dan Brown did the same this time with the Inferno.

The only questions remaining are why the secret cult is gathering the Cross remnants and what motivates Captain Kaspar Glauser-Royst. matildf
Sep 08, Lowed rated it liked it. There’s a nun working in the Vatican archives and there’s a Swiss Guard and a Coptic polyglot archaeologist, and the three of them are tasked with the investigation into a dead body found decorated with strange symbols and crosses. Some tenuous connection then derives to Dante’s Purgatory, and the three are forced to start decoding instructions hidden in the book to find an earthly paradise, where, they suspect, the criminals came from.
En route, the nun gets horny, abandons her faith, and shacks up with the archaeologist. En algunas ocasiones te llevas sorpresas muy agradables, esta fue una de ellas. When the body of an Ethiopian man covered with tattoos of crosses and Greek letters is discovered, the Vatican summons Dr.
